2014 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship hits Mesquite Sept. 20-27

The RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship, the premier power event in golf, will be held from Sept. 20-27 at the Mesquite Sports and Event Complex in beautiful southern Nevada. World champions in six divisions will be decided, in addition to the Final 8 in the Open division. The divisions are: Masters (65+), Legends (60+), Grand Champions (55+), Super Senior (50+), Senior (45+), and Women’s. Competitors are the best ball strikers on Earth, capable of driving with astonishing distance and precision. 

October is Long Drive Month on the Golf Channel, with the first of three episodes chronicling the compelling qualifying competition that leads to the Final 8 debuting Oct. 14. The Open Division finals will be live on the Golf Channel on Nov. 4, broadcast from the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort. The defending champion of the Open division is Tim Burke, who hit a drive of 427 yards in 2013 to win the event and $250,000. In all, nine former world champions will be in the field of the Open division.
