April showers bring May flowers and a blossoming downtownApril showers have provided terrific conditions for the downtown gardens. The flowers are blooming everywhere. Whether headed downtown for any of the events or enjoying the downtown shops, boutiques, restaurants, and activities, take time to enjoy the fabulous gardens. Make it a point to get out and enjoy the heart of the community in beautiful downtown St. George.

The City of St. George Concert in the Park Series has begun. May brings Randy Linder for a Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute. The Concert in The Park Series is a celebration of wonderful music, open parks, and family celebration. The series runs April through September at Vernon Worthen Park, located at 300 S 400 E in St. George. Performances are on the second Monday of each month and start at 7:30 p.m. Park seating is available. Families are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and food. DocUtah at The Electric Theater is making downtown come alive on the last Friday of the month. DocUtah is gaining greater recognition across the globe, but there are still some in our community unfamiliar with the organization. Even those acquainted with the annual event may not know about the newest offering. On the last Friday of each month, DocUtah is showing high-quality documentaries at The Electric Theater. This offers a fantastic opportunity to view some of the best documentaries, including Academy Award-winning films, and enjoy an evening out. Tickets are just $5 per person at the door. Art Around The Corner is available all day every day. The new art is officially up and ready to be enjoyed. Warm spring temperatures offer a pleasant evening stroll to take in this spectacular outdoor exhibit. All pieces in the exhibit are for sale, and purchases are tax deductible. The outdoor exhibit is a free self-guided tour of the downtown area. More information can be found at artaroundthecorner.org.

Southern Utah Songwriters Association launched its Spring Concert Series for the month of May. The series showcases the live music of Southern Utah Songwriters Association members. The live music plays in the beautiful center courtyard of Ancestor Square. The gorgeous park-like setting offers a fabulous place to enjoy a meal before or during the small outdoor live music concert with family and friends. There are a few chairs available, but guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the grass while enjoying the downtown music culture. The concerts are free and play each Thursday evening in May from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Sunset on the Square returns in May. The Summer Movie Series will begin its ninth season on May 27. This community favorite involves St. George Town Square transforming into a giant outdoor movie theater under the stars. This event is held on the second and fourth Friday each month through August. Classic movies for adults and children are shown on the big screen. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and goodies to enjoy the evening with friends and family. Arrive early and to participate in games and fun, but be certain to be there by dusk when the movie starts.
