Art Works Gallery will exhibit paintings, prints, and artist books by Idaho artist Shushana Rucker through July 22. The opening reception takes place June 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Art Works Gallery in Cedar City. This will be the first Final Friday Art Walk of the season.
Rucker grew up in a large family in the suburbs of Philadelphia. After high school she attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she received the Lewis S. Ware Memorial Travel Scholarship. After completing her undergraduate studies, she went on to receive a master’s degree from the University of Delaware. She moved to Rexburg, Idaho in January 2015 with her husband and daughter and continues to work in her studio and teach in the surrounding region.
“My work deals with perceptual, theoretical, conceptual, and social connections, the connections we make on a daily basis while experiencing life,” Rucker said. “I endeavor to be frank in my observations. This frankness allows me to freely represent the constant state of opposition in which we all live.”
Art Works Gallery is located at 16 N 100 W in Cedar City.
