Because Animals Matter is hosting its annual Dog Day event Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. outdoors at the Hurricane Community Center. Bring your well-behaved, leashed dogs to enjoy the day-long festivities. The BAM Dog Day event will offer the opportunity to mingle with other animal advocates, find a goody or two from local vendors, and enjoy some tasty food from the onsite food vendors.

Events at the BAM Dog Day event include FUNgility demonstrations with a chance to have your dog run through the FUNgility course, the Skyhoundz DiscDogathon World Championship Qualifier, and Southern Utah Dog Sports flyball. This year, certify your dog as a Canine Good Citizen. Adoptable animals from BAM and other area rescue shelters—including HART, PAWS, We Care for Animals, and local animal shelters—will be onsite. Hurricane’s own K-9 Officer Paige plans to visit the event to show off her BAM-donated safety vest. DJ Lex will provide entertainment, and Dog Works Mobile Grooming will offer nail trimming and other limited services.

BAM will also be hosting a raffle as part of the Dog Day event, offering a wide variety of products donated by local businesses and the event’s vendors. The 2015-16 Pets Make a Difference calendar will debut at the event as well. Buy raffle tickets and calendars at BAM’s event booth.

Funds raised at the Dog Day event support BAM’s community programs, including Meika’s Memorial Medical Fund, low cost spay and neuter programs, the Hurricane Dog Park, and purchasing pet oxygen masks for the local fire department and bulletproof vests for local police K-9s.

The Hurricane Community Center is located at 63 S 100 W in Hurricane. For more information, email Beth Lock, or call her at (435) 619-9444.
