Upstate New York-based indie/folk duo Band of Lovers will play at George’s Corner on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. They will also play and at Toadz in Cedar City on Oct. 2 and at Plein Air Moab Oct. 10. The acoustic folk duo features guitar, ukulele, and vocal harmonies and is currently on a tour of the U.S. to celebrate the release of their debut album, “The Coast,” which came out on Valentine’s Day.

Self-styled troubadours, Band of Lovers have been living as nomads, touring for two years. Dave Strumfeld and Sabina Beachdell have been playing together for ten years. They have been likened to Sufjan Stevens, Belle and Sebastian, and Andrew Bird. In his album review of “The Coast” for The Revue, Ben Yung compared the duo to the Decemberists, adding that they are “able to create moments that will have your heart-racing, like that feeling you get when you see your true love enter the room, or gloomy, dour moments where all seems lost.” The Revue called them a “cheerier She and Him.”
