From Harley to healer

When she was invited to a party at a house called “The Wolf’s Den,” Nancy thought, “This guy has a touch of the bad boy in him!” And she was right. Bob Wolf still rode a Harley, but at one point in his past, he used to hang out and party with an outlaw motorcycle gang. He hailed from Maryland and later Pennsylvania, where he left behind his rough-rousing ways. With a background in sales, manufacturing, firearms instruction, and addiction counseling, Bob heeded a call to venture west.

Bob Wolf, or the “Wolfman” as he was called, with his long red hair on his custom motorcycle back in his “wild days.”

Having become baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints before he left Pennsylvania, he settled in the St. George area and joined an LDS singles group. On occasion, he hosted singles’ parties at his house, dubbing his lair the “Wolf’s Den.” He added ambiance with strings of colored lights, a bonfire in the front yard, and dance music playing in the garage. The driveway served as the dance floor. The neighbors didn’t seem to mind since they were invited.

When Nancy arrived at the party, Bob noticed her right away. A tall blonde with electric blue eyes is hard to miss. Bob asked her to dance, and they danced in the driveway under the colored lights. But Nancy was fighting the voices in her head saying “He’s too short!” (Nancy is 5’10” and Bob is 5’6”) and “He’s too Mormon!” Nancy was raised in the LDS Church. But she didn’t have a positive experience and later, as an adult, she vowed never to go back. She grew up in Orange County, California but moved to St. George as an adult. She has been a licensed massage therapist for over 20 years, specializing in CranioSacral Therapy, a gentle therapeutic touch which releases restrictions in the soft tissues (fascia) throughout the body, especially ones that surround the central nervous system.

At the party, Nancy felt an internal tug of war. Her body, gut, and soul were directing her toward this fascinating man with green “wolf eyes” who she couldn’t stop dancing with, but her mind was telling her to run the other way. She took a break to find the bathroom and compose her thoughts. She looked into the mirror, and suddenly a scene flashed before her eyes: She was blow drying her hair after getting out of the shower in the very bathroom she was now standing in! It seemed to be some sort of premonition or flash forward.

As she walked back through the house toward the garage, she passed a small room with neatly piled stacks of items. Each pile had a sticky note on it indicating if it was going to charity or to storage. She took a moment to admire Bob’s careful organization skills. As she looked around the room, she found herself thinking, “Oh, this isn’t good Feng Shui. We would have to do something better with this room.” She caught herself and mentally slapped herself upside the head. What was she thinking! Why was she calling them a “we?”

When she got home that night, she saw that Bob had already texted her. It wasn’t just any text. It was a beautiful, heartfelt, yet whimsical poem he had obviously made up within less than an hour. The words in that poem and the feeling of the night completely engulfed her as she lay in bed and began to wonder about the possibility of creating a life with Bob, as crazy as it seemed.

For the next six weeks, Bob and Nancy spent as much time getting to know each other as they could. They spent hours talking very openly, the last two weeks of which were on the phone and FaceTime since Bob was traveling. They shared details of their pasts, families, beliefs, likes and dislikes, and their dreams for the future. They even talked of marriage.

One night on the fifth week, they were having one of their long phone conversations. Nancy laughed and said that a crazy thought had come into her mind. Bob said, “You know if you say it, it will probably come to pass, so make sure you really want it before you say it.” So, she just said it. “What if we got married next week, the day after you get back from your trip?” Bob didn’t hesitate, “OK.” Nancy continued, “You probably can’t make that happen.” Bob said, “Oh yes I can.” And he did.

She quickly ordered a lace blouse on Amazon Prime to match a white skirt she already had. Bob had inspired Nancy to re-join the church, and he called Bishop Bjarnson to perform the ceremony, which they held in the front yard of the Wolf’s Den. Close family and friends who could make it on such short notice were invited. A friend took photos. Bob organized a small post-party dinner at a restaurant for the group of 20. They had waited to consummate the marriage, and their wedding night was just as romantic and magical as they had dreamed.

Life at the Wolf’s Den was never happier. Bob’s dog, Lakota, welcomed Nancy with open paws. They later found a stray cat at the Cedar City Temple and he easily and lovingly joined the family too and was given the appropriate name of “Temple Cat.” It was as if they had all been waiting for each other all their lives.

In September of 2019, they will celebrate their three-year anniversary. Nancy credits Bob’s unconditional love and support in giving her the courage to open her one-year-old business, High Vibrations Healing Wellness Center in St. George.

And the Harley man? Bob also moved into the healing profession learning Psych-K, which stands for “psychological kinesiology,” a process that helps people communicate with their subconscious minds so they can change limiting beliefs and habits. He offers his Psych-K services as part of the wellness center’s smorgasbord.

Bob divides his time between taking care of the home front while Nancy works full-time, Psych-K at Nancy’s office and hosting church groups, corporate events and private parties at the Southern Utah Practical Shooting range as well as individual firearms instruction. Bob has been a competitive shooter for 19 years. Nancy has also taken up competitive shooting and loves it. And Bob still rides a Harley.

Nancy and Bob Wolf now work together, live together, and play together. But the most captivating thing about them is the absolute joy that they emanate together — while still dancing frequently in the driveway.
