Children explore creativity in SUU’s ‘Arts*Lab’ Saturday, Feb. 21

Children's art classes at SUUThe Independent

SUU’s Department of Theatre Arts & Dance is offering free arts classes known as Arts*Lab for kids this Saturday, Feb. 21. Workshops will be offered in theatre, visual arts and creative movement. Pre-school and elementary age children are invited to participate in the various classes and interactive workshops. This session includes a special dance workshop for ages 3-4 from 11-11:45am. Classes for ages 5-11 are held from noon until 2:45pm. All classes are held at Gateway Preparatory Academy in Enoch. The sessions are free and open to youngsters in the community.

Under the supervision of SUU Faculty members Denise Purvis, Alisa Petersen and Michael Bahr, the sessions’ workshops have been created for children ages 3 to 11. However, please be advised that due to the overwhelming popularity of this program, parents are encouraged to go directly to the SUU website at http://suu.edu/pva/ta/ for complete class information, details and registration. All classes are free but space is limited. If you have any questions, please contact Denise Purvis at 435-865-8024.
During its inaugural season in 2012, Arts*Lab enthralled over 1500 children who enjoyed the creative engagement through the arts. According to Denise Purvis, SUU Assistant Professor of Dance and co-creator of Arts*Lab, “these workshops give children a joyful and non-competitive experience with creative art, while helping our future educators develop skills and see new possibilities in arts education. Everyone who participates in Arts*Lab, whether as teacher or student, receives valuable experience while having lots of fun.”
