Fifty years ago, Jan McCullough began simply fixing her mother’s hair. Soon, she was doing hair and wigs for her mother’s friends. She went to work in a wig shop, and when the owner left, she took over the business. During college, she supported herself and put her husband through school by traveling the state and combing wigs for her clients. Her first retail space was in Provo, and a shop was opened in Sandy. She had a shop in Bountiful and eventually consolidated to a boutique-type shop on 33 South and 10 East in Salt Lake City with a larger inventory and additional services. Fifteen years ago, she took over a shop in St. George on Bluff Street and added new inventory and services. Men’s hair replacement is now available. She opened a shop in South Jordan on 104 S. Redwood Road. There was a grand re-opening of the South Jordan store at 10318 S. Redwood Road with twice the space, twice the inventory, and twice the services (and twice the fun) in mid-April.

As her business expanded, she enlisted her daughters and a sister as managers and hired professional cosmetologists and estheticians to provide services that her clients needed.

Her motto, “look better and feel younger,” addresses the desire of all women to improve their appearance, but the real core of her business is the need for men and women to address the loss of their hair. Working with cancer patients, alopecia and trichotillomania diseases, and genetic male-pattern baldness is now the core of the services being offered by her expert staff. A free consultation is the basis of providing the correct wig or hairpiece to return one’s appearance to a stunning new persona. The joy of working at Creative Wigs is the services being offered and the new friends-for-life that we enjoy. Permanent makeup, lashes, and fancy nails are offered.

It is a well-known fact that a man with a nice suit and healthy head of hair gets promoted faster (and has better success in dating). Permanent hair attachments for men are available so men can exercise and swim without anyone knowing the difference. Professional women who don’t want to spend that hour in the morning getting ready for work can quickly apply a professional-looking hairpiece. After a day in the jungle on a cruise, she needs only slip into her new look and she is ready for a formal dinner. Going to a party on the weekend with a new color or different hair style means an opportunity for impressing a new group of friends. Wigs are fun. Halloween and Comic Con are the obvious venues, but a new-looking wig can brighten your normal life, too, as well as save you time. Look better, feel younger.

The new lines of human-hair and synthetic wigs and hairpieces with mono-filament and lace fronts mean that no one can tell you are wearing hair that’s not your own. Wigs are now cool and are “wash and wear,” comfortable, and when properly fitted are easy to put on. Less-expensive than multiple trips to a beauty parlor, many women come in for a consultation before permanently cutting or dying their hair and choose their new look from our extensive collection of styles and suppliers.

Come in and meet our staff and try on your new look … it will change your life!
