If you attended the Mesquite Balloon festival and didn’t get to see any balloons launch due to weather, you may get another chance in Kanab. This weekend Kanab is hosting it’s first ever three day event “Balloons & Tunes Roundup”  starting Feb. 27 and lasting through March 1.

Live music, great food and a street fair will be among the highlights of the “Balloons & Tunes Roundup,” a three-day event featuring hot air balloon flights. Balloons will launch at approximately 7 a.m. on each of those days (weather permitting) from Coral Cliffs Golf Course in Kanab (755 E. Fairway Drive). The location will provide participants with the dramatic sites of Vermilion Cliffs, located near the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Events held later on Friday and Saturday will include a “Battle of the Bands” competition, crafts, foods and games at a Street Fair on Main Street and even a Street Zumba demonstration on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Hot air balloons will line Center Street on Saturday at 7 p.m. for a traditional Balloon Glow exhibition. As many as 15 of the 20 balloons attending the event will fill up and glow for spectators to enjoy the vibrant balloon colors in the starry night sky of the desert. Don’t miss out! Mark your calendars now.
