The Erin Kimball Foundation Board of Directors recently named Dorothy Engelman as its new executive director. Engelman is replacing Sue Kimball, who has retired.

Engelman has been an active member of the community since 2009 and belongs to The Three Corners Women’s Giving Circle and the American Association of University Women. She is also on the Board of the Red Rock Center for Independence. Engelman is looking forward to coordinating activities with the DOVE Center to provide a cohesive continuum of services to the survivors of domestic violence.

I’m one of the 1-in-3 women who have experienced domestic violence, and this fuels my passion for my work at Erin Kimball,” said Engelman. “A college boyfriend slapped me during an argument while sitting in a green VW. It’s amazing some of the details one remembers. I got out of the car and never saw him again. I’m impressed at how our survivors begin to find their voices and feel empowered to take control of their lives.”

The mission of the Erin Kimball Foundation is to provide transitional housing and assistance for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. It was founded by Don and Sue Kimball following the murder of Erin, Don’s daughter, and her two children by her husband. The EKF’s board of directors includes Angela Thoburn, president; Shannon Anderson, secretary; Michael Carr, Kristin Williams, Rev. Michael Chamness, Sue Kimball, and Ryan Bishop.
