DOVE Center receives $19,000 donationNineteen Allstate agency owners secured $19,000 from The Allstate Foundation Helping Hands in the Community grant program after hosting a week-long bedding and toiletries drive to benefit DOVE Center, a local provider of domestic violence services in St. George.

“One in three Utah women are victims of domestic violence,” said Allstate agency owner and project leader Shonie Christensen. “If we do not stand up and speak out, who will?”

DOVE will use the $19,000 grant to strengthen its new housing programs and maintain operations at Erin’s House.

“With the recent addition of Erin’s House to our programming, this grant is so timely,” said DOVE executive director Lindsey Boyer. “It provides an opportunity for our clients to further establish independence through stable housing; it also provides much needed space to provide therapy, children’s services and support groups for survivors.”

DOVE Center is one of thousands of organizations this year to receive Allstate Foundation Helping Hands in the Community grants secured by agency owners and financial specialists on behalf of the nonprofits where they volunteer. The grants support organizations addressing domestic violence, youth empowerment, disaster preparedness, hunger and other causes.

“The Allstate Foundation and local agents have given us incredible support to accomplish the work we do for our community,” Boyer said. “It’s impressive how much the foundation rallies to enhance awareness, promote financial empowerment, and ultimately end domestic violence and financial abuse.”
