The Beaver Dam Station & Bar in Littlefield, Ariz., 25 minutes south of St. George en route to Mesquite, Nev., will present its 25th annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Nov. 8. This event includes a winner-take-all cash prize for competitors, lawnmower races, and a live performance by the band Rockin’ Horse. Admission is free and open to the public.

There is a $10 entry fee for those entering the cook-off, which also gets your chili judged and a signature T-shirt. Competitors should bring their prepared chili between 6-7 p.m.; judging will begin at 7 p.m.

Also in November, the Beaver Dam Station & Bar will host their 31st annual community Thanksgiving feast. This free holiday meal and gathering is open to anyone wishing to attend. Those willing to bring a potluck dish are encouraged do so, but it is not required. Dinner will be served starting at 2 p.m.
