Kirk is a beautiful 2-year-old Siamese/tabby mix. Kirk is shy when you first meet him but will come out of his shell when you get to know him. He gets along with other cats and loves to play. Kirk is bonded with another shy boy named Luigi, and they are a 2-in-1 package. Luigi is a little on the shy side but very sweet! Luigi needs a home that will allow his bestie Kirk to go with him because he is a little shyer than Kirk, but if he see’s you loving on him he will understand and warm up to you. Kirk’s adoption fee is $150, and Luigi’s is $65.
Amber

Gala
Gala is a little shy when meeting new people, but she quickly falls in love and wants to be petted. She likes all other cats. Born in 2010, she came from an overcrowded situation. Gala is in good health. She is playful and would love for you to take her home so she could sit on your lap.
Hoopla
Hoopla has an adorable round face with big yellow eyes! Hoopla is a curious cat who wants to watch everything going on all the time. She was one of hundreds of cats rescued from Pahrump, Nevada in a case of animal neglect. It was very sad! And neglect left Hoopla with a skittishness that’s going to be tough to recover from. But she can do it! Look in her eyes and you’ll see. “I want to trust you. I want to get pets like other cats. I just can’t do it on my own.” But she watches you. And she’s interested. And she wants to learn to be like the others! Hoopla is terrific with other cats, so she should be fine if you have some in your home. She’s in great health with no problems. Born in just 2005, she’s got a gorgeous coat, and she likes to play with toys. It’s been a long journey. Can you help this curious cat come out of her shell?
Ivy
Ivy enjoys the company of people and likes a little petting and brushing, but sometimes she’d just prefer to nap. She likes to play with fishing-pole toys. Ivy can talk! Her conversations mostly revolve around food: “When? Now? Thank you! Yum!” She doesn’t mind other cats as long as they give her space. She likes things to be calm and quiet. Ivy was born in approximately 2010 and came to the sanctuary when her person moved into assisted living. Ivy is a sweet and loving girl who would be a fun addition to a calm, quiet home with not too many other cats. Ivy is a caturtle, also known as a shy cat who comes out of their shell in a home. Caturtles are free to adopt and can fly to their new homes for free anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.
Ghostrider
Ghostrider is a big hunk of a dog. He may be big and tough looking, but he’s as sweet and gentle as they come and an amazing ambassador for pit bull terrier type dogs. Born in 2014, he does tend to get a little anxious when left alone. Although he can have doggie friends, he should not live with other dogs or cats due to guarding behaviors. Ghostrider would do best in a home where he’ll get lots of love and attention.
Howard
Howard is such a love. He was born in 2014, but he’s a laidback guy, so he likes to take things at a leisurely pace. Howard adores people and enjoys taking short, casual strolls on Dogtown’s shorter trails. He came to Best Friends from a local shelter, and he’d love to find a home with someone who’ll cuddle with him and take him for slow walks around the block. Howard passed a cat test at the sanctuary, but when it comes to other dogs, he seems to prefer females. At Dogtown, he’s working on basic manners and loose leash walking. If you’d like to relax and chill with your best doggie friend, Howard might be the guy for you.
Irene
Irene was rescued during Hurricane Harvey and later came to Best Friends from a humane society in Utah. She is shy and fearful with strangers at first but then warms up and turns into a silly goofball. Irene isn’t a flashy dog on the outside, but she makes up for it with her shining personality. Her little body wiggles with joy when she sees her caregivers. She loves to play with other dogs at Dogtown, and she has been a good role model for her doggie roommate. She even passed a cat test at the sanctuary. Born in 2014, Irene had some issues with strangers entering her previous home. She’ll do best in a quiet home without a lot of foot traffic or visitors. Irene is currently working on losing a little weight, keeping up her dog skills with play dates and improving her social skills with new people. Sanctuary visit required.

Bullet
Bullet is one of the calmest, well-behaved dogs you will ever meet! He is currently at a foster home, and his foster mother raves about his manners! He got his name from the large gunshot wound he had when he first arrived at RSQ Dogs+ but you would never know it now. He loves other dogs and people of all ages and would love to have both animal and human siblings.
Stella
Stella is 3–4 years old, and she is the sweetest girl. She’s a bit cautious around new people and dogs but warms pretty quickly. She loves the park and car rides. Belly rubs, kisses, and cuddles round out her day. Stella is a total lovebug who just needs a bit of reassurance from time to time.
Kailani
Kailani came covered in over 30 from a high-kill shelter in California fleas and absolutely terrified of everything. In a week, her ticks were removed, she visited the vet, and she’s started to learn that people are not a bad thing! She is now at a foster home with a family helping her with her anxieties and working to bring her out of her shell. She is about 3 years old and 12 pounds, perfect for someone looking for a quiet companion.
Tiger
Tiger is a sweet polydactyl, which means she has extra toes! She loves to be held and plays well with other cats. She does well with little children.
Cali
Cali is a sweet tuxedo kitten who is looking for a new home and is ready to snuggle up and cuddle with you or to entertain you with a lot of playfulness.

Mesquite residents only receive one-year city pet licenses.
Bobby
Bobby was found as a stray in a cage outside the shelter. He had a collar and a harness on, but no one ever came to claim him. He is a very nice boy who is approximately 2 years old. He is happy, loves people, and does well on a leash. His adoption fee is $60.
Minnie
Minnie was turned in to the shelter along with three other dogs. She is approximately 5 years old and is very nice. She is friendly and loves being around people and other dogs. She does well on a leash. Minnie is housetrained. She is learning how to play with toys and what a treat is. We don’t believe she had much socialization. Her adoption fee is $60.
Laurel and Lily
These sister kittens are black and white. They are so friendly and people oriented. They were in a foster home for six weeks and have wonderful personalities. They play and play, then take a nap, and start the playing all over again. It would be great if they could be adopted together, but they will adopt separately. Their adoption fees are $40.
Katy
Katy was turned in with her daughter Sissy because her family had too many cats in the home. She is a little shy but super friendly and easily handled. She loves being held and cuddling in your lap. Her adoption fee is $40.
Sissy
Sissy came to the shelter with her mother because her family had too many cats. She is a beautiful bright-colored calico. Sissy is a quiet cat who just loves attention. She is easily handled. Her adoption fee is $40.

Pippin
Pippin is a sweet boy but very lonely. He had some buddies his size, but they got adopted, and now he’s the only little dog there and doesn’t have anyone to play with. Pippin is a lap sitter, a cuddler, a walking buddy, a watching-TV-with-you pal, and a traveler in a car or RV. Pippin loves to be wherever his people are. To meet Pippin, call (435) 773-5209 and arrange an appointment, or drop by That BAM Place between 10 a.m. and noon any day but Sunday. His adoption fee is $125.
Bindi
Bindi is a border collie blend believed to be around two years old. She spent one night in a foster home after being pulled from the shelter to come to us. The foster parent wrote: “She loved my little boy and loves to explore the house. She did well in the crate last night and did pretty well with my dogs. She takes treats nicely and, surprisingly, she is very confident. I bet she’d make an amazing agility dog. She is very loving with people but seems to want to do her own thing around other dogs and doesn’t seem playful. I hope she finds a great home!” Bindi is a typical herding dog and will require an owner with experience. She is not good for a first-time pet owner. If you are interested in doing dog sports, they believe Bindi would excel at that. BAM is taking applications at this time for Bindi and she will be available to be placed once she is spayed. Go to BAMutah.com and you will find the application embedded in the text under the Adopt section. You can download it, fill it out and send to J@BAMutah.com or call (435)773-5209 to find out more about her. Bindi’s adoption fee is $125.
Chief
Chief is adorable. At the shelter, they said he was terrified, but Chief has taken BAM by storm, playing with the other dogs, lap sitting, giving kisses, learning how to go for a walk, and just being cute. Well, he really didn’t have to learn how to do that. He just had to take a little bit to know it was okay. Chief is only 9 months old and is available for adoption. You will not want to miss out on getting this little guy. For an appointment to meet Chief, call Julie at (435) 229-5703. Chief’s adoption fee is $150.
Walt
Walt is approximately 8 years old. He would like nothing better than to go on a walk with you, go for a run in the desert, be your companion, and then lay down at your feet at the end of the day (or in your lap … he likes laps a lot). Older children would be best for him, and he would also be a great pet for an older couple. Walt is well behaved in a house, and although he is crate trained, he prefers to live in close proximity with his humans. Walt’s foster mom says he is a great dog and he deserves a home of his own. Walt’s only problem is that nobody wants to adopt him because he has stage 1 kidney failure and requires a special diet. The vet says he could live a couple of years, or more, or less. There’s just no telling, but if you’ve seen the videos of him running in the desert, you would know he’s not ready to cash it in yet. Everyone who knows Walt believes he deserves a family. Are you a family that is willing to give love and be loved, even if it is time-limited? If so, call Corinne at (435) 760-3414 and set up a time to meet him. You will fall in love with him … everyone does!
Sabrina
After being hit by a car, little Sabrina spent 8 weeks in a cast while her bones healed. She’s 10 years old but loves to adventure by car, trail, or river. Snuggles are her favorite, but she’s not a couch potato. Sabrina lives with several big dogs and enjoys their company. Never once have they heard her bark. Sabrina would be great in any home but, even with her cast off, she will still need tender care until her bones are strong. Sabrina does require daily medication for an enlarged heart but nothing stops this little dog from living life to its fullest. They are still working on house training, but the process is slow due to her broken bones. Sabrina sleeps through the night without urinating and does not urinate on the carpet but will on tile. Her cast may be at fault, and now with it removed, she’ll be more agile and move more easily. To meet Sabrina or find out more about her, contact Andrea or A.J. at (612) 756-2374. Sabrina’s adoption fee is $100 and she is also eligible for their Seniors Helping Seniors Program.
