Josie
Josie is very excited about life and wants nothing more than to be with people. This friendly girl is always happy to make new friends and learn new things. Josie is like the Energizer bunny, so she’ll need a very active home with a person or family who is up for lots of training and enrichment. She does calm down nicely in quiet environments and is very easygoing on car rides. Born in 2015, Josie came to Best Friends from a humane society in Colorado after she was seized from a dog fighting situation. She has a tick-borne illness that causes her to have very low blood platelets. Because of this condition, Josie must be extra careful to avoid any potentially harmful situations. She also lives alone at the Sanctuary and will need to be the only dog in a home, since her condition can be transmitted to other dogs. Although Josie has a heart murmur that needs to be checked regularly, it does not require medication at this time. At Dogtown, Josie is working on impulse control and staying calm when her caregivers enter her room or put on her harness.
Kiki
Kiki is a friendly, engaging little lady. She loves her toys and has energy to burn. One of her favorite things is playing fetch with people. She walks nicely on a leash and sits politely when asked. Kiki loves her walks and does well on car rides. Born in 2014, Kiki came to the Sanctuary from a Best Friends Network Partner in Arizona. She has an old injury that’s left her with some incontinence problems, so she takes prescription medication to help keep her healthy. Routine and structure help Kiki have fewer accidents, and she’s not too hard to clean up after. Kiki can be bossy with other dogs at the Sanctuary and protective of her beloved toys. She prefers that other dogs leave her alone while she plays. At the Sanctuary, she is working on crate training. She’ll do best in an active home where she will have an outlet for her abundant energy.
Lana
There’s definitely a gentle giant in there, and Lana’s working on bringing it out. She can be apprehensive about certain things, she’s incredibly strong on a leash, and she’ll sometimes try to chase cars. She can also be defensive with barriers, like her gate and her crate, but Dogtown caregivers and trainers are working with her on these things. Once you take the time to get to know her, Lana, who was born in 2013, is sweet and sensitive. She also has great manners and is very smart, with a desire to please her person. If you think you can give Lana the love, support, and guidance she needs, she’d be thrilled to meet you.
Jamaica
Meet one of the legendary ‘rafter cats’ at Best Friends! Cats like these make wonderful companions-from-afar. You can’t hold them or pet them – at least, not yet. But they think and feel and love, just like the rest of us. And if you give them the chance, they can be a real part of your home. They just haven’t had any experience being pets. Jamaica came to Best Friends from a Utah shelter. Born in 2012, he’s in good health, and he gets along well with other cats. Shy cats like these have always been an important part of Best Friends’ culture. They have special spirits and deep personalities. And this beautiful cat would love to be a part of your life.
Kieran
Kieran is a shy gray and white cat who likes to hang out in the outdoor cattery. He was approximately 9 when he arrived in 2013 from Illinois. When he first got to Cat World, Kieran played hide and seek in the rafters, darting to and fro, up and down. He liked to hear his name called, though, and he would meow back. Now that he’s gotten more comfortable here, he will cautiously approach people for their attention and to receive pets. He loves treats! He does well living with other cats and is fine with dogs. He’s looking for that special someone who will help him blossom even further.
Larry Berry
Larry Berry came to us from a terribly overcrowded situation in Pahrump, Nevada. He’s used to being around other cats, but sometimes the bigger, more assertive males can intimidate him. Born in 2005, he’s come a long way since he’s been at the Sanctuary. Although easily startled, he loves getting attention from people. He’s always ready for pets and a lap to call his own. Larry Berry is a Caturtle, also known as a shy cat who comes out of their shell in a home. Caturtles are free to adopt and can fly to their new homes for free anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.

He loves other dogs and people of all ages and would love to have both animal and human siblings.

In a week, her ticks were removed, she visited the vet, and she’s started to learn that people are not a bad thing! She is about 3 years old and 12 pounds, perfect for someone looking for a quiet companion.

Bruno is a beautiful smoke colored pittie. He is shy and very worried he is doing something wrong and will get in trouble. He loves to play with toys and is doing well on a leash. Pippin
Pippin is a sweet boy but very lonely. He had some buddies his size, but they got adopted, and now he’s the only little dog there and doesn’t have anyone to play with. Pippin is a lap sitter, a cuddler, a walking buddy, a watching-TV-with-you pal, and a traveler in a car or RV. Pippin loves to be wherever his people are. To meet Pippin, call (435) 773-5209 and arrange an appointment, or drop by That BAM Place between 10 a.m. and noon any day but Sunday. His adoption fee is $125.
Bindi
Bindi is a border collie blend believed to be around two years old. She spent one night in a foster home after being pulled from the shelter to come to us. The foster parent wrote: “She loved my little boy and loves to explore the house. She did well in the crate last night and did pretty well with my dogs. She takes treats nicely and, surprisingly, she is very confident. I bet she’d make an amazing agility dog. She is very loving with people but seems to want to do her own thing around other dogs and doesn’t seem playful. I hope she finds a great home!” Bindi is a typical herding dog and will require an owner with experience. She is not good for a first-time pet owner. If you are interested in doing dog sports, they believe Bindi would excel at that. BAM is taking applications at this time for Bindi and she will be available to be placed once she is spayed. Go to BAMutah.com and you will find the application embedded in the text under the Adopt section. You can download it, fill it out and send to J@BAMutah.com or call (435)773-5209 to find out more about her. Bindi’s adoption fee is $125.
Chief
Chief is adorable. At the shelter, they said he was terrified, but Chief has taken BAM by storm, playing with the other dogs, lap sitting, giving kisses, learning how to go for a walk, and just being cute. Well, he really didn’t have to learn how to do that. He just had to take a little bit to know it was okay. Chief is only 9 months old and is available for adoption. You will not want to miss out on getting this little guy. For an appointment to meet Chief, call Julie at (435) 229-5703. Chief’s adoption fee is $150.
Walt
Walt is approximately 8 years old. He would like nothing better than to go on a walk with you, go for a run in the desert, be your companion, and then lay down at your feet at the end of the day (or in your lap … he likes laps a lot). Older children would be best for him, and he would also be a great pet for an older couple. Walt is well behaved in a house, and although he is crate trained, he prefers to live in close proximity with his humans. Walt’s foster mom says he is a great dog and he deserves a home of his own. Walt’s only problem is that nobody wants to adopt him because he has stage 1 kidney failure and requires a special diet. The vet says he could live a couple of years, or more, or less. There’s just no telling, but if you’ve seen the videos of him running in the desert, you would know he’s not ready to cash it in yet. Everyone who knows Walt believes he deserves a family. Are you a family that is willing to give love and be loved, even if it is time-limited? If so, call Corinne at (435) 760-3414 and set up a time to meet him. You will fall in love with him … everyone does!
Sabrina
After being hit by a car, little Sabrina spent 8 weeks in a cast while her bones healed. She’s 10 years old but loves to adventure by car, trail, or river. Snuggles are her favorite, but she’s not a couch potato. Sabrina lives with several big dogs and enjoys their company. Never once have they heard her bark. Sabrina would be great in any home but, even with her cast off, she will still need tender care until her bones are strong. Sabrina does require daily medication for an enlarged heart but nothing stops this little dog from living life to its fullest. They are still working on house training, but the process is slow due to her broken bones. Sabrina sleeps through the night without urinating and does not urinate on the carpet but will on tile. Her cast may be at fault, and now with it removed, she’ll be more agile and move more easily. To meet Sabrina or find out more about her, contact Andrea or A.J. at (612) 756-2374. Sabrina’s adoption fee is $100 and she is also eligible for their Seniors Helping Seniors Program.
