Yvonnesouthern utah adoptable pets Yvonne

Yvonne is a gentle cuddle bug who loves a good belly rub. She is sweet and affectionate and enjoys lap and cuddle time. At the Sanctuary, she is working on crate training and she gets along great with pretty much any dog. Though she’s not particularly playful, she doesn’t mind if other dogs are. Yvonne was born in 2013 and came to Best Friends from a shelter in Texas. Although she enjoys being outdoors and is great on a leash, she has an old injury to one of her back legs, so she can’t do any strenuous activity. She is currently on prescription medication for pain and is being evaluated by Best Friends vets. She may be getting surgery to repair the injury, which will require some rest and recovery time. Yvonne has shown aggression toward cats in the past, so she cannot live with them.

Bakersouthern utah adoptable pets Baker

Baker is the kind of dog who is very eager to learn and to please people, but who also needs direction and a patient person. He is extremely food motivated and loves to figure out food puzzles. He can figure out any puzzle his caregivers give him, and he enjoys fun doggie sports like nose work and agility. At the Sanctuary, Baker has some separation anxiety because he truly loves being with people. He is on prescription medication to help him adjust, and the behaviors were not seen in his previous home. With training and extra enrichment, his anxiety has decreased. Born in 2017, Baker knows a handful of basic training cues and is learning more daily. He currently knows how to walk nicely on a leash, he is muzzle trained, and he knows sit, down, and shake. He’s also working on crate training. Baker is a smart dog with lots of potential for more training. Baker is currently living alone, without other dogs, at the sanctuary. He should not live with cats or other small animals since he does have a bit of a prey drive. Baker would excel in an adult-only home with someone who can give him plenty of guidance and enrichment.

Deltasouthern utah adoptable pets Delta

If you want a jogging buddy or hiking companion, Delta is your girl. She is always up for an adventure and loves to get out and explore with her people. Besides her endless energy, she is also very smart and a fast learner. Delta really enjoys clicker training and agility and would love to find an active home where she could learn new things. If you can tire her out, she then likes pets and affection. Born in 2017, Delta came to the Sanctuary from a Best Friends Network Partner. She is reactive to other dogs and would need to be an only dog in a home. She can be hard to handle when she sees other dogs, and she has redirected on a person while walking by another dog, but she did not break skin. She also has a high prey drive, so she should not be around small animals, and she will guard her toys. Delta is the kind of dog who will thrive with an active and dog savvy person. In the right situation, she will make a wonderful companion.

Young Mesa is extremely playful and friendly. She loves string toys and though she loves to play with other cats, she can be a bit competitive. With other felines, she can keep to herself, or chase them around. Matilda has Feline Leukemia (FeLV), so needs to be an only cat or live with other FeLV positive cats. After being hit by a car, little Sabrina spent 8 weeks in a cast while her bones healed. She’s 10 years old but loves to adventure by car, trail, or river. Snuggles are her favorite, but she’s not a couch potato. Sabrina lives with several big dogs and enjoys their company. Never once have they heard her bark. Sabrina would be great in any home but, even with her cast off, she will still need tender care until her bones are strong. Sabrina does require daily medication for an enlarged heart but nothing stops this little dog from living life to its fullest. They are still working on house training, but the process is slow due to her broken bones. Sabrina sleeps through the night without urinating and does not urinate on the carpet but will on tile. Her cast may be at fault, and now with it removed, she’ll be more agile and move more easily. To meet Sabrina or find out more about her, contact Andrea or A.J. at (612) 756-2374. Sabrina’s adoption fee is $100 and she is also eligible for their Seniors Helping Seniors Program.
