Memory Matters holds fall festival in September

The Memory Matters Utah/Nevada Fall Festival will be held Sept. 8 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Town Square Park in St. George. The fall festival seeks to raise awareness of local services and available help for seniors caring for or suffering from memory loss due to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other memory and cognitive issues. The public will be able to participate in a wide variety of events in support of those afflicted with dementia and help reduce the stigma they endure.

The fall festival will include vendor booths, food trucks, live entertainment, family portraits, prize drawings, and a memory wall. A balloon release will take place at 5:45 p.m. All prizes have been donated from local businesses. Donations for event prizes can be made to Memory Matters and may be tax deductible.

All proceeds from the fall festival go to assist Memory Matters in helping our community of caregivers and those afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Local programs include caregiver support groups, education classes, early stage intervention, and dementia activity classes providing respite for caregivers.

  1. Uhhhhhhhh….what does this photo have to do with a festival that includes: “vendor booths, food trucks, live entertainment, family portraits, prize drawings, and more.” Haha

    • It is an image depicting two elderly women. “The fall festival seeks to raise awareness of local services and available help for seniors caring for or suffering from memory loss due to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other memory and cognitive issues.” Four year olds don’t typically struggle with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

      • Tell that to the four-year old whose grandmother forgot to pick her up from dance lessons. I’m just saying that if you’re trying to draw people out to a festival to raise funds and awareness for a LOCAL organization that cares for people suffering from Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, and not digging wells in a third world country, there are probably some better options when it comes to a photo. But they are seniors so you got that part right.
