Mesquite Gaming, owner of Casablanca Resort and Virgin River Hotel, kicked off the new year with the 12th annual Mesquite Motor Mania. In partnership with the Las Vegas Cruisin’ Association and Mesquite Resort Association, Mesquite Motor Mania 2020 delivered three days of nonstop excitement for car enthusiasts.
The rows of 873 vehicles were filled with a variety of burnouts, slow drags, classics, rat rods, imports, and more. Car collectors from near and far made the trip to Mesquite to show off their prized possessions. The car show’s family-friendly event lineup gave many crowd-pleasing moments during the roaring engines competition, slow drags, burn-out contests, and open headers cruise.
The following are some notable awards from the event:
—People’s Choice Award: Pete and Sandy Ashlock from Apple Valley, California, 1958 Chevy Bel Air.
—Participant’s Pick: Ray Nelson from Las Vegas, 1932 Ford Roadster, $2,000.
—Best of Show Pick: Raymond Northway from Taylorsville, 1956 Chevy Nomad, $3,000.
Mesquite Gaming also hosted a Motor Mania Art Contest for students from local schools and donated $1,000 to the art program at the winning student’s Beaver Dam High School, which was received by principal Darlene McCauley and art teacher Cheryl Edwards. The winning student, Marlene Sanchez, won a pizza-and-bowling party for 10 at the Virgin River Bowling Center.
Mesquite Gaming CEO Anthony Toti was so impressed with the artwork from all participating schools that Mesquite Gaming will donate $500 to the art program at each school, and the winning student from each school will receive a pizza-and-bowling party for 10.
