Utah Rep. Mike Noel drops H.B. 481 Donald J. Trump Utah National Parks Highway Designation
Utah Rep. Mike Noel dropped H.B. 481 Donald J. Trump Utah National Parks Highway Designation Wednesday.
Noel changed his mind after receiving pushback from the public in the form of phone calls and emails, many laced with strong language, profanity, and suggestions that Noel perform intimate acts upon himself. Utahns were apparently uninterested in renaming Utah National Parks Highway after President Trump after the New York Times revealed that Bears Ears National Monument was on Big Oil’s sacrificial altar before Secretary Zinke’s political puppet show.
Installing new signage to reflect the name change would have cost $124,000, Democrats estimated.
Noel noted that his intention was to honor President Trump for shrinking Utah’s national monuments.
Utah State Sen. Jim Dabakis, a Democrat, had responded to Noel’s bill with a proposal of his own to rename the frontage road running alongside the Donald J. Trump Utah National Parks Highway the “Stormy Daniels rampway” after a pornography actress who was allegedly paid $130,000 not to draw attention to her relationship with President Trump.
Utah Democrats are so heavily outnumbered that it is unlikely that Dabakis’ amendment would have succeeded.
