Nissan GT-R Supercar of GT-Industries St. George Utah

GT Industries has brought the supercar driving experience to southern Utah, providing locals and tourists another opportunity on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, to either ride in or drive an imported race car with a string of awards–and a whole lot more–under its hood. The event will be held at the old St. George airport from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.

The Nissan GT-R owned by GT Industries is a 530-hp hand-built, sleek blue beast capable of outracing such high-end cars as BMWs and Corvettes. With a top speed of 197 mph and the capability of accelerating from 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds, the GT-R has more “super” packed into one car than many might think they can handle. With awards ranging from Top Gear’s “Supercar of the Year” and Targa West’s “Competition Modern Champion” three years running all the way to a Guinness World Record, you’re safe to assume that it’s got some power.

“This is our third event, so we’re getting the hang of it and expanding it each time,” said Bob Sato, who started GT Industries with his wife, Stacey.

“The course has gotten bigger, and in fact, it’s faster this time,” he said.

The GT-R has a dual clutch and triptronic transmission, allowing it to change seamlessly from automatic to manual.

“The engineer said that he didn’t want to make supercars, but super-drivers,” Sato said.

If you’d like an exhilarating driving or riding experience, come out next Saturday or Sunday to the old airport located on the Black Hill on south Airport Road. Rides in the GT-R will be $35 for one lap and is open to anyone over the age of seven. To drive the GT-R, you must be over 18 years old and have a valid drivers license and proof of insurance. The cost of driving is $99, which will include photos of the experience.
