Raven Cain Band Streetfest

Each month on the first Friday, downtown is transformed into a mini music festival. Demonstrating the potential that exists for the future of southern Utah, Main Street is completely metamorphosed into a spectacular event with something for everyone showcasing high-caliber local musicians and bringing in exciting guests from around the region. George Streetfest’s November booking is perhaps the most powerful lineup thus far. The stellar lineup has The Raven Cain Band kicking things off at 6:30 p.m, Wirelefant at 7:30 p.m. and National Parks at 9 p.m.

The Raven Cain Band will hit the stage hard as they open up November’s Streetfest. The group has been busy in the studio producing an album that is being finalized. Raven Cain said that he hopes to have a release date by the time of Friday’s concert.

Raven Cain Band promises, “This will be like no other Streetfest.” Raven Cain leads the group with high energy and an unequaled stage presence. Raven’s delivery and interaction with the crowd makes his performances feel like a giant party of friends. It all starts with the collection of musicians Raven has assembled in presenting a concert vibe at every performance.

Jake Ryan Shepard plays nearly every instrument. However, it is his skill on guitar fans cannot get enough of. Shepard brings his extremely nimble finger-pickin’ skills to create an unique sound matching the vision Raven has for the band’s sound. There is a soulful funk and an attitude being twisted out of his guitar generating a feel that gives the Raven Cain Band the ability to rock outlaw country.

Ryan Skatt Sargent on bass brings his analytical genius to the technicality of the band. His dedication and determination as a musician is felt with his influence feeding the energy that runs through the veins of The Raven Cain Band. Skatt’s love of music can be felt through his creative and innovative presence in the unique brand of music and vibe experienced throughout the band.

Gordon Strang, or G-man, has jumped behind the skins for the band. His excitement to play with The Raven Cain band is evident on and off the stage. He has repeatedly expressed the enjoyment and fun he is having playing with the group. He has shared how authentic and real Raven Cain is as a person, how that comes through in the music, and the thrill it is to play in this type of atmosphere.

Kevin Jones, The Boneman, is the newest addition to the group. The two Kevins are having a blast with the music. But, the relationship goes beyond the music. There is added humor and joking that comes with the connection. Friday’s show will be the first appearance with The Boneman jumping in on rhythm and backing vocals. Both Raven and The Boneman were ecstatic following band rehearsal when they met with The Independent. They were hardly able to contain the excitement of playing Streetfest. Both are promising an incredible performance for the crowd.

When asked about his thoughts and feelings of joining The Raven Cain Band, The Boneman stated, “Well, first of all I’m really flattered to be asked to join such a top flight group of musicians. It’s like making the All-Star team. But, the real treat is getting to be a part of what Raven Cain can do. Make no mistake, he’s the real deal and very possibly the most natural entertainer this area has ever seen. He gets the crowd involved, like no one I’ve ever seen and his music is a blast to play. With two electric guitars and a handful of really good new songs, Friday’s set will rock quite a bit harder than Raven fans are used to. I can’t wait to get up there and turn it loose. If you’ve never seen Raven, come check it out—he’ll make a believer of you. He’s really a terrific person and a credit to us long-haired freaky-looking guys.”

There is much more to come on the story of The Raven Cain Band. The journey is just getting started. With a recording deal with 405 Hollywood, the doors are just starting to open, and Raven will certainly kick them down as he jumps through them with conviction and talent.

As great of a story as the music journey is, there is also something much more. The man behind the music is real, genuine, and humble. His magnificent, larger-than-life personification on the stage is where he can channel his energy and love of life and people. Off stage, his humble approachability is what makes him real. His not just willingness but desire to connect with others is strong. Raven sat down with The Independent and opened up. He was open, honest, and showed raw vulnerability in sharing a very deep and dark past. He discussed his reasons for feeling so passionate about helping with B.A.C.A. Raven has offered to share the bad so that it may be used for good. We will shine a light on the shadows so that others might be guided with presenting the secrets that will no longer hold power. Rather, they will provide strength and power for others to know they are not alone in horrific struggles. There is hope, and Raven is a prime example of what can be overcome.

  1. I’ve been a huge fan of Raven Cain for a very long time. He brings intensity and showmanship to every show he plays and it can be felt for miles! On top of that he is a down to earth, genuine guy. Just recently got to see him play at the BACA benefit concert he hosted in Hurricane a week ago. While you all were at a football game he was rocking his heart out for needy children! Come see him play tonight at the street fest. If you’re already a fan, seeing him with a full band will blow your mind. If you’ve never seen him play before, you and your whole family are in for a treat!

  2. Raven cain is a good friend of mine and Probably one of the most friendly and genuine guys you will ever meet. And his music is absolutely amazing. The talent this guy has is unreal! There’s nothing like a Raven performance. He puts so much energy and excitement into his shows. Definetly a musician to look out for!

  3. Big Raven Cain fan… This will be my first Streetfest… Saw him perform solo at the Firehouse a ways back and he blew me away… Also saw him play covers at the BACA event over a year ago with his local band… Incredible time… He is a phenomenal songwriter and performer no doubt…BUT his lyrics are great… He may not like this description, but he is a poet… Re: Jim Morrison of the Doors was a poet too… Lastly… Wire Elephant playing tonight is my second favorite local band… The guitarist plays Voodoo Child as well as Hendrix or Stevie Ray … St George is going to light up tonight… They’ll be listening up in the stars above… as music is the language of the spheres… and you’re SPECIAL friend… dance on fire as it intends…. Shred on…
