Draft_UAS Fire Safety_web_sm_0A tweet from the U.S. Forest Service today announced a mandatory evacuation due to the Saddle Fire in Washington County that has already burnt over 300 acres.

Saddle Fire“MANDATORY EVACUATIONS:
A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for the Lloyd’s Canyon area of Pine Valley. Please evacuate now. A reception center is being set up at the Veyo Fire Station at 55 East Center Street in Veyo. Information will be made available at that location once the center is set up. For fire information you may contact 435-590-2736.”

The fire was started by a lighting strike on June 13.

Officials are also asking that people refrain from flying drones over the wildfire area as it is slowing Forest Service attempts to contain the blaze. They’re telling people “If you fly, we can’t.”

All non-motorized trails into the Pine Valley Wilderness Area are closed.

Baker Reservoir is also closed.
