Summer is coming to its end, but there are still so many southern Utah weekend events for you to be a part of. Just because summer is ending doesn’t mean the fun has to! Pick your favorite events and have a memorable weekend. For a full list of weekend events happening in southern Utah visit The Independent’s event’s calendar.

1“West Side Story” at St. George Musical Theater

Get a taste of what the St. George Musical Theater has to offer with their continued performances of the classic “West Side Story.” This weekend, the show will run Thursday, Aug. 27, through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee show on Saturday at 2 p.m. This live theater show will run until Sept. 18.

2Sunset on the Square

Don’t miss the last Sunset on the Square of the season Friday night starting at 6 p.m. The event will end with a bang, showing “The Legend of Zorro” on the big screen. Grab the family and friends for some outdoor relaxing at Town Square Park. Temperatures will be in the mid- to low-90s that night.

3Farmers Markets

Farmers markets are happening every Saturday morning in St. George, Cedar City, Springdale and Veyo. Visit our Events Calendar at suindependent.com for times and location of all five markets. This weekend’s Downtown St. George Farmers Market will feature live music from Raven Cain. Weather should be perfect, with sunny skies and temps in the 80s.

4Neil “Blue” Owen at Zion Canyon Brew Pub

Local musician Neil “Blue” Owen is coming back to his roots to perform at the Zion Canyon Brew Pub. See him live on the patio Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. It should be a cooler day in the mid- to low-80s with some cloud cover.

5Sam Payne at O.C. Tanner

Sam Payne will be performing his jazz, folk tunes as part of the O.C. Tanner Concert Series in Zion National Park. Hear his storytelling through lyrics Saturday night starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. It will continue to cool down that night to the high-70s.
