On Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m., the St. George Dance Company will host “Dance, Dinner, and Donations,” comprising an elegant dinner, a silent auction, and performances by the St. George Dance Company. Food will be catered by Ninja Japanese Steakhouse with music by Vista Chamber Orchestra.

Choreography for the evening has been created by Summer Belnap Robertson, the artistic director for St. George Dance Company. A piece entitled “The Cruise” was inspired by several unfortunate incidents within the cruise industry that made national and world headlines. The dance follows the story of a group of friends who board a cruise liner with expectations of endless food, fun, and relaxation, but they don’t get what they had hoped for.

Another work to be presented is “Between and Betwixt,” which was originally inspired a Verne N. Rockcastle poem, “Recycled.” “Between and Betwixt” explores how human experiences such as hunger, thirst, love, pain, joy, sorrow, and death also pass through and are recycled within all of us.

The St. George Dance Company’s mission is to bring dance to the forefront as an accessible and valued art form in southern Utah. The event raises funds for a rehearsal space, costumes, and a sound system. Dancers performing are Katherine Call, Cassidee Edmunds, Bethany Gee, Jennie Jones, Sherlynn Davis, Hollie Reina, and Rebekah Wainwright.

Support dance in southern Utah and attend this elegant evening. Doors open at 7 p.m. for dinner, and the program begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person or $40 for two. Semi-formal attire is requested. “Dance, Dinner, and Donations” is to be held at the DiFiore Center for the Arts at 307 N. Main St. in St. George.
