St. George Musical Theater presents ‘The Odd Couple’

The Independent

Following on the heels of their highly successful first show in five years, “The Sound of Music,” St. George Musical Theater has announced their next show, “The Odd Couple,” a non-musical comedy written by Neil Simon. This is one of Simon’s most popular plays, and audiences can count on laughing almost nonstop.

“We are particularly excited to have Richard Bugg direct this show, since he is the founder of the Neil Simon Festival in Cedar City, and there is likely no one in the country more familiar with or who has directed more of the playwright’s work,” executive director Bruce Bennett said.

“Some shows require very experienced actors, and we are thrilled to have Varlo Davenport and Richard Hill in the lead roles, both of whom bring years of experience to the production,” artistic director Debe Jacobs said. SGMT is very fortunate to have two veteran actors on board for this production. Davenport and Hill have spent their careers developing young talent in their professions as local educators in the performing arts.

SGMT’s “The Odd Couple” runs from Oct. 23 through Nov. 22 at the historic Opera House. Shows will be held Thursday through Saturday and Mondays. Tickets range from $16 to $20 and can be purchased at www.sgmusicaltheater.com or by calling 1-866-967-8167.
