Strong support for anti-tax referendum locally

By Larry Meyers

The referendum petition drive to put the 2019 tax law on the ballot in November is seeing strong support in Washington County. Signature gathering meetings were held at libraries and businesses around the county last week and over one thousand voters have signed the petition. Many people want to repeal these tax changes, and voters have lined up to sign the petition every time a big event has been held.

The effort is all volunteer and includes people from across the political spectrum. Republicans and Democrats are working together on this, and many teachers and small business owners are helping out. Over 100 petition packets are in the hands of volunteers gathering signatures locally with a goal of turning in 10,000 signatures by Jan. 21.
