The SUU Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Theater in Cedar City.

“The SUU Jazz Ensemble is preparing to compete at the Reno Jazz Festival in late April,” said Dr. Adam Lambert, director of bands at SUU. “The group will be performing familiar standards and exciting, newer compositions, including the well-known ‘First Circle’ by Pat Metheny. We will also feature an original composition by one of our own students, Robby Debry.”

The SUU Jazz Ensemble is open to all students by audition. Students prepare and perform jazz music through ensemble and improvisational performance close to a professional level. Performances include appearances with the annual SUU High School Jazz Festival featuring nationally and internationally recognized guest artists, an annual swing dance for the university and local community, and competing at the Reno Jazz Festival.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. SUU faculty, staff, and students enter free with a valid ID card. Faculty and staff with IDs are allowed one guest. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert.
