Suzuki Strings Cedar City spring concert
Genesis and Matthew Gonzalez are featured soloists

Suzuki Strings Cedar City will present its spring concert Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Center in Cedar City.  The concert will feature a range of music from classical to fiddling.

Rimi Fletcher will be the guest soprano soloist with the advanced violins for “Adele’s Laughing Song” from Johann Strauss’s “Die Fledermaus.” The orchestra will present music by Bach, Handel, Smetana, and John Williams. Fiddle tunes include “Short Bow Jig” and “Blackberry Blossom.” Genesis and Matthew Gonzalez are the soloists for the “Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” from Handel’s “Solomon.”

Students range from 3-year-olds to adults who participate in weekly group classes and private lessons. Teachers are Marin Colby, Alexander Schwartz, Kindal Ridd, Ling Yu, and Sara Penny. Pianists are Tasha Seegmiller, Rimi Fletcher, Beth Stephenson, and Mel Jeffs. Twelve area teachers help prepare the students in individual lessons as well.

You are invited to join in the musical celebration on Thursday, May 12, 7 p.m., Heritage Center, 105 N. 100 E. in Cedar City. Admission is by donation.
