That’s right, folks! “The Summer Movie Edition of the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge” is right around the corner, and organizers want to invite aspiring filmmakers of all ages and all skill sets to take part. Whether you’ve made a short film before or not, this “Challenge” is open to all.

Those interested in taking part must be present at the “Theme Reveal Meeting.” This meeting will take place in the parking lot behind the historic Electric Theater located at 68 E. Tabernacle on Friday, May 9, at 6 p.m. At this meeting, the theme of the challenge will be revealed and a few ground rules and guidelines will be provided. Participants will then have a few short weeks to put together a short film using any resources available to them.

The Theme Reveal Meeting will also announce the date and location of the big screening event. That’s right! Your short film projects will get the big screen treatment!

There’s a $30 submission fee per film project.

This is the 26th Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge since 2005, and while organizers hope to see plenty of familiar faces, they also hope to see some new filmmakers in the mix as well. If you have any further questions, email Adam Mast at [email protected].

Adam Mast
Adam Mast's love affair with the movies began at the ripe age of 6 after his parents took him to see a little film called Jaws at a drive-in theater in Northern California. From that moment, he was hooked. Mast began his epic stint as a film critic with The Independent back in May of 1996. At the time, the publication was still in its infancy and known as the Revolution. Through the years, Mast would go on to write for Zboneman.com before co-founding the entertainment site, Cinemast.net. His love of storytelling would also lead him to aid in the creation of the film-centric 501(C)(3) nonprofit, Film and Media Alliance of Southern Utah (FMASU)--An organization primarily known for championing storytellers both locally and worldwide by way of various film-related events held throughout the year, including The Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge, Desertscape International Film Festival, HorrorFest International, and A Merry Movie Christmas. His love of cinema and the arts in general knows no bounds. Mast currently resides in St. George, UT with his lovely (and undeniably supportive) wife Tonja and their four amazing children, McKenzie, Matthew, McKian, and Mason.
