Washington County Fair holds National Anthem auditions

The Washington County Fair will hold auditions for those who wish to perform the National Anthem in the 2019 county fair. Auditions will be held June 15 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Grafton Building at Legacy Park, located at 5500 W 700 S in Hurricane.
Audition order is organized on a first-come, first-served basis. Assigned audition numbers will be given upon registration, and number switching will not be allowed. The audition is open to the general public for individuals or groups of eight people or fewer. There will be six to eight renditions of the National Anthem performed over the four-day event, so several individuals will be chosen. All participants in the audition will be notified by email regarding whether they have been invited to perform the National Anthem. Professional attire is required, and each singer must bring an 8 ½” x 11″ headshot of yourself and your group to the audition.
It is required that the National Anthem be sung a cappella and in a traditional manner — with no styling or individual musical interpretation. These performances of the National Anthem are intended to honor America and the men and women who serve or have served, not about the individuals or small groups singing the piece. If selected, performers must sing the same version at their scheduled time in the same manner as they were performed at the auditions.
