Zion Canyon Earth Day CelebrationIn cooperation with Zion National Park, the town of Springdale will celebrate the 12th Annual Zion Canyon Earth Day on April 23. The celebration takes place on the lawn of the Bit & Spur Restaurant at 1212 Zion Park Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and draws over 1,000 participants.

The festival continues to be a sustainability-focused educational event through recycling, solar power, engaging educational booths, and encouraging art vendors to use recycled or reusable materials.

Art and food vendors will be accompanied by live solar-powered music as well as a silent auction, a beer and wine garden, and educational demonstrations about alternative energy, native plants, local environmental issues, and sustainable products. Kids can participate in a variety of activities.

Local bands include Both Crows, Raven Cain, Home Early on Sunday, and Juniper City.

The Earth Day Committee believes that educational events like the Zion Canyon Earth Day celebration inform the public about the importance of sustainability and alternative energy sources. The Town of Springdale continues its efforts to offset the energy used in public facilities to solar power and currently has 96.4 kilowatts of solar capacity installed. Additionally, private residents collectively have 36 kilowatts installed. The Town of Springdale has been recognized as an EPA Green Power Community since 2008.
