Due to nearby wildfires, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area has announced active fire response operations that will temporarily impact visitor activity on Lake Powell. Fixed-wing Super Scoopers—amphibious firefighting aircraft—will be using sections of the lake between buoys 43 and 49 to draw water for fire suppression.

To support these emergency efforts, Glen Canyon rangers are providing vessel assistance on the lake, and a temporary flight restriction has been enacted in the area.

Safety Advisory for Lake Powell Boaters

Boaters are urged to avoid the stretch from Dangling Rope to Rainbow Bridge, or use it for transit only until further notice. Recreational users on the lake are also advised to monitor marine radio channel 16 for real-time updates and ranger communication.

The National Park Service is emphasizing public safety during this time and asks for cooperation as these critical firefighting operations continue.
