For four days each summer, Cedar City trades modern life for medieval merriment.

The Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire returns to Main Street Park July 15–18, inviting visitors to step through the gates and into a world of knights, nobles, pirates, artisans, entertainers, and adventure. Now celebrating its 44th year, the long-running event has become one of Southern Utah’s most beloved summer traditions, drawing families, history enthusiasts, costumed performers, and curious first-timers alike.

The transformation begins the moment guests enter the village. Music drifts through the park, colorful banners flutter overhead, and performers roam the grounds bringing the spirit of the Renaissance to life. Whether arriving dressed in full period attire or simply looking for a unique summer outing, visitors are encouraged to become part of the experience.

Costumes are welcome, though organizers jokingly remind guests that full armor in the July heat may require the strength of a true champion.

Throughout the four-day festival, entertainment takes center stage. Scheduled performers include The Mad Harpist, Yonathan de Bard, Virney the Magnificent, Louie & Friends, Frank the Curiositor, Belly Dancing, Olta Aerial, Josh the Ventriloquist, and Thistle & Knot. Live demonstrations from guilds throughout the faire offer a glimpse into traditional crafts and skills, helping visitors experience history through hands-on learning and interactive presentations.

Children will find plenty of opportunities for adventure as well. The Renaissance Fairy Sage returns with games, activities, treasure hunts, and opportunities for young guests to immerse themselves in the fantasy and storytelling that have become hallmarks of the event.

Returning this year is Funtime Inflatables, featuring inflatable attractions, an obstacle course, and a climbing wall that provides a modern twist on medieval fun.

Merchant Row remains one of the faire’s most popular attractions. Visitors can browse handcrafted jewelry, costumes, leather goods, artwork, fantasy treasures, decorative items, and artisan-made products that are difficult to find anywhere else. The marketplace reflects one of the faire’s core traditions, bringing together makers, craftspeople, and merchants from throughout the region to share their work with festivalgoers.

No Renaissance Faire would be complete without a feast, and this year’s menu offers plenty of options. Guests can start their mornings with breakfast from Taco’s Bravo Thursday through Saturday from 8–10 AM before exploring the grounds. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy giant turkey legs, chicken and beef on a stick, brisket sandwiches, orange chicken and rice, street tacos, quesabirrias, kettle corn, cotton candy, snow cones, and a variety of other fair favorites.
