Life is full of challenges, and I sure have had my own set of them lately. I won’t get into a lot of detail, but let me just say how grateful I am to have a roof over my head, clothes on my back, money in my bank account, and a job that has sustained me for 30 years and a few months.

But I will be honest with you. I’ve had some serious highs and lows since the beginning of the year. From a high of helping recruit candidates all over the state of Utah in early January, to the dissolution of my 6-year relationship in the same month, to completing 30 years of publishing this paper, and to then move into a space of wondering what to do next with it, now in our 31st year, it’s been a rollercoaster ride this year.

But here we are having produced another gorgeous edition of what I am proud to say is the region’s widest distributed print publication. And while the number of ads we sold this month, would’ve actually fit into a slightly smaller volume, the amount of really great content in this issue would never have fit in that size, so we really hope you will enjoy this beautiful collection of events and happenings for the greater Southern Utah area.

And while there are many chaotic parts of life and crazy things happening all around the world, I think it’s important for each of us to find joy whenever and wherever we can. That’s part of the whole mission of The Independent. To connect people with joy in the form of arts, music, entertainment, and more.

So I hope you find some fun through The Independent, and if you enjoy our paper, please support our advertisers as they are the ones who help us keep the lights on and make it free for everybody else to enjoy. And if you’re part of a business that would be interested in reaching our large and loyal readership, hit me up at [email protected].

Happy reading.
