The summer’s last Final Friday Gallery Stroll—part of the 2015 Cedar City Art Walk—is scheduled for Aug. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. It will be the last chance to see the Art Walk exhibits and participate in the many festivities.
Final Friday Gallery Stroll: More activities than you can shake a paintbrush at
Artisans Art Gallery will host live music, refreshments, artists, and representatives from the Orchestra of Southern Utah, the Cedar City Arts Council, and the Utah Shakespeare Festival. In addition to the Art Walk drawing, there will be a drawing for tickets to a fall season play from the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Award-winning photographer Robert Hall will be at the gallery to give visitors a chance to look through a large format field camera, and Cody Smith will sell his photography at a 50 percent discount, donating all proceeds to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab.
The Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery at SUU will also feature live music and artist demonstrations as well as the Southern Utah Art Invitational and Sale. The Southern Utah String Quartet will perform popular and classical from 5 to 7 p.m. Artists Joey Favino and Larry Laskowski will demonstrate their painting techniques and chat with guests.
Jessica Gerlach, designer and professor at SUU, will be outside of Poser’s Place demonstrating letterpress printmaking. Stone Path Massage and Energy Center will feature chair massages and ionic foot baths, and artist Sierra Dickey will demonstrate her art and visit with guests.
Light refreshments will be provided at galleryGALA. At the El Rey Inn and Suites, Chip Wiggin will demonstrate the inking and printing process of traditional relief printmaking, and photographer Ryan Larson will show how to create cyanotype photography prints at the Brick House Café.
The Beverley Taylor Sorensen Center for the Arts information station will be in front of the SUU Alumni House. At the booth, visitors can participate in giveaways and learn more about the Southern Utah Museum of Art and the new Utah Shakespeare Festival theater. The Randall L. Jones Theatre is featuring the Adams Theatre 2015 Farewell Exhibit, a visual tribute to the classic USF theatre.
The 2015 Cedar City Art Walk and the Final Friday Gallery Strolls are free.
