The St. George Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local businesses to participate in a “Dollars for Denim” fundraiser to benefit local charities this September.
Under the rules of the fundraiser, employees who would like to wear jeans to work are given the option of contributing a set amount at the employer’s discretion—suggested at a dollar a day—which will go to the charity fund in exchange for permission to wear jeans to work.
The money collected will be placed in a fund that will be used to support deserving local charities this holiday season. Some employers are matching their employees’ contributions.
It is free for employers to participate in Dollars for Denim. The St. George Chamber will provide each participating business with a jar to be used to collect Dollars for Denim contributions. If you are an employee and your employer isn’t already signed up, make sure to tell them you would like them to participate. And then break out those jeans. It could be Casual Friday every day in September.
To sign up to participate in the Dollars for Denim fundraiser, please visit the St. George Chamber of Commerce’s website, or call (435) 628-1650.
