Chris Proctor southern Utah benefitChris Proctor, former U.S. national fingerstyle guitar champion, will play two benefit concerts in southern Utah in September. He will perform in Springdale at the Canyon Community Center on Friday, Sept. 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at the DiFiore Center in St. George on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Half of the proceeds from ticket sales at the Springdale show will be donated to the Zion Canyon Music Festival, which takes place on Sept. 25 and 26. The show in St. George will be a fundraiser for the DiFiore Center for Arts and Education, which is still reeling after a main waterline break set the Center back approximately $15,000 in early July.

Proctor’s playing has won accolades from multiple major publications such as the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and Acoustic Guitar Magazine—who described his compositions as “spectacular,” “elegant,” and “exquisite” and praised his twelve-string work as “revelatory.” Media reviewers trace the roots of his style to folk, jazz, pop, and classical music, comparing him to Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges. He has recorded ten CDs and DVDs and has written several books and countless articles about his passion. He integrates storytelling into his performances.

The ticket price for each of the Chris Proctor southern Utah benefit shows is $10. Tickets for the Sept. 11 concert in Springdale can be reserved at the Canyon Community Center, located at 118 Lion Blvd. in Springdale. For more information, call (435) 772-3434.
