On Sept. 24, The Ledges Golf Club will host the Golf Fore! P.A.W.S. Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Providing Animals With Support and in memory of Dr. Jerald Ball. There will be awards for the winning team as well as for men and women’s long drives, men and women’s “closest to the pin,” and the chance to win a car with a hole-in-one.
P.A.W.S. exists to decrease euthanasia rates at local shelters through spay and neuter programs, public education, and finding homes for animals. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill, volunteer animal rescue organization was founded in 2002 and rescues animals scheduled to be euthanized due to lack of space at shelters, placing them into foster homes or at the P.A.W.S. adoption center and ultimately finding permanent homes for them. P.A.W.S. relies solely on donations and volunteers. It offers reduced-cost neutering and spaying services for low-income individuals. The P.A.W.S. adoption center is located at 1125 W 1130 N in St. George and is open Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Ledges Golf Course is located at 1585 Ledges Parkway in St. George. Registration is at 6:45 a.m., and shotgun is at 8 a.m. Registration is $125 per player and includes a lunch, a shirt, use of a golf cart and tee prizes. Registration fees may be tax-deductible. There is a dress code for the tournament. Collared shirts are required, and denim is not allowed. To register online, visit dixiepaws.org.
