Beginning on Monday, Nov. 16, the half-mile Grotto Trail in Zion National Park will be closed due to repairs to a water main that runs from the Grotto Trailhead to the Zion Lodge. The water main will require extensive work, and the trail will be closed during that time to all hikers and pedestrians. It is anticipated that the Grotto Trail will be closed for two weeks. It is expected to reopen on Nov. 28. Hikers heading to the Emerald Pools trail or Angels Landing via the West Rim Trail will not be affected by this closure.
The Grotto Trail was one of the the earliest trails constructed in Zion National Park, designed by landscape architect Harry Langley in 1932 and built using only hand tools.
