Brent Cleverly, director of the St. George Temple Visitors’ Center, has announced that the visitors’ center will undergo an approximate six-week-long “refreshing” beginning Monday, Jan. 4, that will bring new carpet, wall coverings, and displays to the center. There will be a temporary closing of the central building at 490 South 300 East while the work of refurbishing is taking place.
The annex of the visitors’ center will still be available for public visits during that period. The smaller structure located immediately north of the main building was built in 1996 to function as a second entrance to the visitors’ center. It houses displays that tell the story of the building of the St. George Temple and will be open with missionaries available to answer questions while the renovation is taking place.
“We are excited for this face-lift that’s coming to our visitors’ center,” said Cleverly. “The Church has done similar beautification projects at other visitors’ centers in Los Angeles, Mexico City and elsewhere with very positive results.
