On Tuesday, Nov. 15, Southern Utah University’s jazz band will perform a concert entitled “Legends In The Living Room.” The concert will be held in the Sharwan Smith Center Living Room at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“We tried some legends pieces out and we couldn’t pick a few so we decided to make the entire semester legendary pieces,” said Dr. Thomas Herb, associate professor of music education and jazz band director. “Since this concert is the annual living room concert, I have been calling it ‘Legends In The Living Room.’ It’s just a free open air concert.”

Ethan Patrick, a senior marketing major from New Harmony who plays the alto saxophone is excited about the piece “TANK.”

“It’s a fast-paced and high-energy piece,” said Patrick. “The song has a difficult alto solo that requires me to play in the extremely high range of the instrument. People have fun at this concert. We have some amazing soloists lined up as well as guest vocalists that will make the concert even more fun and entertaining. If you haven’t been to a jazz concert, this is the perfect first concert to attend.”

The pieces that will be played during the concert include “TANK” (theme from “Cowboy Bebop”), “A Night In Tunisia,” “Take The A Train,” “In The Mood,” “April In Paris,” “Our Love Is Here To Stay,” “It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing,” and “Sing Sang Sung.”
