Children’s creative movement art classes
This creative-movement class for children provides an opportunity to develop movement and learning skills while using the imagination and exploring their playful spirit and dance as a beautiful and fun form of expression and communication. “Above the Cataclysm” curated by Gabriella Warnick
Art now has cause to question its own authenticity. Diffident conjecture abandons habit as mark-making becomes neglected in favor of permanent erasures. Unfinished thoughts and self-effacing bones of a painting raise the question, “When is a work of art finished?” In this exhibition, the pieces express this discord in what might be called the death of painting. This exhibit shows Thursdays–Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through March 31 at the DiFiore Center. This even is free and open to the public. “Fabulous Fiber Follies” at Canyon Community Center
The Red Rock Weavers Guild will feature its fiber creations at the Canyon Community Center. The show features handmade items made by the Red Rock Weavers, unusual fiber items purchased on world travels, and woven and quilted items created by southern Utah artisans. This show will be on display Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. with a reception to be held Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. “Over the River and Through the Woods” at St. George Opera House
Nick, a single Italian from New Jersey, has been offered a dream job that would take him away from his only family left in the city: his grandparents. His grandparents aren’t thrilled about the news and start a series of schemes to keep him around. Cedar City Junior Ballet presents “The Sleeping Beauty”
Cedar City Junior Ballet will perform Tchaikovsky’s full-length ballet “The Sleeping Beauty” Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Theatre. “The Sleeping Beauty” begins with the king and queen celebrating the birth of their first child, Princess Aurora. The evil fairy Carabosse arrives, and in her anger at not being invited, she curses the baby so that at age of 16 she will prick her finger and die. However, the Lilac Fairy intervenes and changes the curse from death to a peaceful 100-year sleep for the princess. The ballet is appropriate for children over the age of four. Tickets are $10 and available at the Heritage Center box office or from any cast member.
