Children’s creative movement art classes
This creative movement class for children provides an opportunity for them to develop movement and learning skills while using their imagination and exploring their playful spirit. The class teaches dance as a beautiful and fun form of expression and communication. It takes place Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Difiore Center. There is a $45 fee. “Above the Cataclysm” curated by Gabriella Warnick
Art now has cause to question its own authenticity. Diffident conjecture abandons habit as mark-making becomes neglected in favor of permanent erasures. Unfinished thoughts and self-effacing bones of a painting raise the question, “When is a work of art finished?” In this exhibition, the pieces express this discord in what might be called the death of painting. This exhibit shows Thursdays–Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through March 31 at the DiFiore Center. This event is free and open to the public. “Fabulous Fiber Follies” at Canyon Community Center
The Red Rock Weavers Guild will feature its fiber creations at the Canyon Community Center. The show features handmade items made by the Red Rock Weavers, unusual fiber items purchased on world travels, and woven and quilted items created by Southern Utah artisans. This show will be on display Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. with a reception to be held Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. SUU art & design student presentations
On Thursday and Saturday at noon, the SUU Department of Art & Design is proud to present the Senior Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibit at the Southern Utah Museum of Art. The artwork of 27 graduating seniors will be on exhibit from March 23 to April 29. Each student will be presenting their best work in their area of emphasis, including ceramics, illustration, graphic design, painting, drawing, and printmaking. Ignite Your Influence Women’s Conference
The First Annual Women’s Conference will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Courtyard by Marriott and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Zion Room at Dixie State University’s Holland Library. It will celebrate and elevate women with the launch of the Women’s Influence Center. Highlights include local leaders taking the Champions Pledge in support of the Women’s Influence Center mission that every woman will be heard and elevated and will succeed, an initiative with the Women’s Leadership Institute to elevate the stature of women in leadership. “Murder for Two” at Brigham’s Playhouse
Murder For Two is a hilariously entertaining “who done it” production sure to bring out the detective in everyone! “Over the River and Through the Woods” at St. George Opera House
Nick, a single Italian from New Jersey, has been offered a dream job that would take him away from his only family left in the city: his grandparents. DSU Celebrity Concert Series presents Joe Trio
Joe Trio will give a concert at the Cox Auditorium Thursday at 7 p.m. Joe Trio is not your average piano trio. Their repertoire consists of the classics, from Papa Haydn to Uncle Shostakovich, new works by contemporary composers, and their own arrangements of popular, jazz, and rock tunes. More than virtuosi, the trio’s members are fantastic performers who engage the audience in a way few classical musicians can. Amply witty, charming, and tremendously musical, Joe Trio leaves audiences with a new appreciation for classical music. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Dixie State Tickets Office.
