On April 8, Real Women Run will host Real Women Run Southern Utah Training, an event for community members who want to get more involved, current and potential campaign managers, and political candidates in Washington, Kane, and Iron Counties. The event will be held April 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce.
According to the group, the event is intended to be opportunity to join a nonpartisan conversation and get practical training from experienced Utah leaders who will share insights about public service and navigating barriers to and opportunities for community engagement and shed light on what it is like to really be in elected office and other leadership positions. Speakers include Cedar City Mayor Maile Wilson, Rep. Christine Watkins, Rep. Becky Edwards, Janice Brooks, Nina Barnes, Dorothy Engelman, and Kolene Granger.
The training fee is $15 and includes lunch. Registration is available at realwomenrun.org. The St. George Chamber of commerce is located at 136 N 100 E in St. George.
Founded in 2011, Real Women Run is a collaborative nonpartisan initiative to empower women to participate fully in public life and civic leadership through elected political office at all levels, appointments to boards and commissions, participation in campaigns, and engagement in the political system.
