Local filmmaker Dan Fowlks has made several shorts here in the southern Utah area, like “Stan the Man,” “A Tale Told Heart,” and “Hunting For Yoda,” just to name a few. His latest effort is called “The Hit.” This beautifully shot noir thriller tells the story of two hit men (played by Ctormy Thomas and Ryan Hughes) who are the very best at what they do. “The Hit” is a story about a woman who hires two hit men to kill her husband. Of course, in this particular line of work, there are secrets aplenty, and ultimately things aren’t always as they seem. Andrea Kile Peterson, Joel Thomas, Bob Baumann, and Shayne Cullen also star. Fowlks wrote the script alongside Thomas. There is no language or nudity but the film does have PG-13 elements.
“The Hit” recently premiered here in southern Utah to strong word of mouth, and before Fowlks takes the film on the festival circuit, filmgoers will have one more opportunity to see it locally. This special black-and-white cut of “The Hit” will be screened at the Granary Cafe in Santa Clara on Saturday, June 17. A handful of the cast and crew will be on hand to chat with attendees.
The film runs approximately 30 minutes. The event fee goes toward a light snack provided by The Granary (beer and wine purchased separately). Your $15 ticket will include a light snack, an outdoor screening of the film, and a very special live set by musician Tom Bennett who wrote music specifically for “The Hit.” Great food, great company, great music, great film. What more can you ask for?
