On July 7 in downtown St. George, Georgefest will extend Independence Day festivities with “All-American George” with local entertainment, locally produced food and beverages, games, and more. Anyone wearing red, white, and blue attire can register at the Jazz Garden entrance for a drawing for Georgefest t-shirts. Due to high temperatures, Georgefest will start at 8 p.m. rather than 6 p.m. and run until midnight.
On the main stage, local Celtic band Wooden Tantrum will open for Provo-based The Doldrums. The Naturals, a blues trio comprising Isaac, Mari, and Zoe Ericksen, children of Dick and Alice Ericksen, will play in the Jazz Garden at Green Gate Village followed by Bila Gaana from Cedar City.
The DJ Dance Party has been postponed due to pedestrian and traffic safety concerns at the roundabout at Main and Tabernacle Streets. In its place, Georgefest’s Food Truck Village will set up on Tabernacle Street with entertainment provided by Shannon Birch Vocal Studio students.
“In order to improve safety for event patrons, we are exploring the possibility of relocating the DJ Dance Party to a new site,” said Georgefest founder and executive producer Melynda Thorpe. “We understand the popularity of this venue at Georgefest and hope to have the matter resolved in time for the August event.”
Georgefest, a nightlife event designed to celebrate the best of southern Utah, is held on the first Friday of every month from 6 to 10 p.m. with the Jazz Garden at Green Gate Village open until midnight April–October.
