Tucosouthern utah adoptable pets Tuco

Tuco is a sweet dog who loves attention. He enjoys playing with people, but he also likes to just hang out with them. Water and jolly balls are his two favorite toys. He loves these things so much that it can be difficult to pull him away from them. Born in 2015, Tuco came to Best Friends from a shelter in California. He will guard food and has shown other guarding behaviors. Tuco also has some handling issues, especially during medical checkups. He especially doesn’t like having his feet or ears touched. His caregivers at the Sanctuary are working with him to decrease his food guarding and to improve his ability to be handled. Tuco has done well with all the dogs he’s met at the Sanctuary and has even passed a cat test here. He has also lived with small dogs successfully before. When the weather is warm, Tuco could happily live in the Dogtown dog park pool, but he’d be even happier to go home with you.

Yogisouthern utah adoptable pets Yogi

Yogi is like the Goldilocks of dogs – his combination of snuggly and active is just right! He enjoys going on long walks and has done well meeting new dogs here at the sanctuary, which makes adopting this handsome guy a no-brainer! With his expressive eyebrows and goofy smile, he’s sure to win your heart. Contact the adoptions team today to find out how to bring this sweetheart home.

Gilmoresouthern utah adoptable pets Gilmore

Gilmore is a calm, quiet dog, and when he is comfortable he is very sweet. He is shy and fearful with people, especially strangers, and is considered a flight risk. Gilmore loves food, and he loves to cuddle up in bedding and blankets. Gilmore was born in 2012 and came to Best Friends from a No More Homeless Pets Network Partner shelter. At the Sanctuary, he loves clicker training and is learning hand feeding as well as how to accept human touch and handling. Gilmore has a quiet nature and would do best in a calm and quiet home. He loves sunbathing outside. He’ll also need a home that has a secure yard.

Rainsouthern utah adoptable pets rain

Rain can be hesitant with new people, but it doesn’t take her long to warm up. She’s really very sweet, and you can pet her when you earn her trust. Although she does fine with other cats, she prefers her own company. Born in 2011, Rain came from a shelter in northern Utah. She is a beautiful girl who would love to have a person to call her own. It may take her some time to adjust to a new home, but once she did she would be the sweetest, most perfect companion.

Hersheysouthern utah adoptable pets Hershey

Hershey is a funny little black cat with a knobby three-quarter length tail and very round green eyes. She was born in 2005 and came from an overcrowded situation in Nevada. Because she was never handled as a youngster, she will probably hiss and run if you approach her. On the other hand, she likes to strut her stuff when the other kitties are petted! You can bribe her with some crunchy treats. She deserves to know how kind humans can be.

Matrixsouthern utah adoptable pets Matrix

Matrix arrived from years of living in the desert and was pretty terrified of people. But his caregivers here gave him lots of love, and he’s learned that people aren’t so bad. We think he was born around 2005. He’s healthy and gets along fine with other cats. We think he’d really blossom if a patient person is willing to help him and provide him with catnip and fun toys.

Domsouthern utah adoptable pets DOM

Dom is the most lovable puppy-dog-eyed Beagle/Bassett Hound blend you’ll ever meet. This low-rider came to live at That BAM Place while suffering from Cherry Eye (it doesn’t look great but is mostly cosmetic) but that is being corrected and, after that, he’ll be ready for his new family. Dom has clearly lived in a home before and has pretty impressive manners (although he does get up on BAM’s sofa and is still working on the dog door). Though Dom doesn’t bay like a hound, he has a bit of separation anxiety at the adoption center when he has to be put in his kennel while other dogs are out. This would likely be different in a home environment and we do offer trial placements to make sure he is right for you and your home. Dom does not do well with young children. Although Dom gets along with the wide variety of dogs they have in residence with him (often napping with the smallest 6-pound dog), he would enjoy being an only dog as he prefers to be with people over dogs if given the choice. To find out more about Dom or arrange a meeting with him, contact Julie at (435) 773-5209 by texting or calling. His adoption fee is $125.

Barrysouther utah adoptable pets BARRY

Were you widowed by a grumpy old man? Have you been looking to add another to your life since his passing? BAM has got the dog for you! In all seriousness, little Barry has good reason to be grumpy. He came to BAM with a broken pelvis from a California shelter. Since being at BAM, the poor guy has had to deal with puppies in his space, big dogs who don’t respect him an–adding insult to injury–he now has kidney stones. BAM wants the old guy to catch a break and live out the remainder of his life with someone he can find solace and love. Barry loves to rub his back on the floor and wiggle and loves to have belly rubs. He enjoys certain members of the BAM team while others simply aren’t his cup of tea. To find out more about Barry, meet him and see if he’s a match for you text or call Julie at (435) 773-5209.

Tony

Not only is Tony a handsome, golden eyed, mature teenager, he is also a very loving and loyal boy! Although timid at first, especially with men, there will be no training involved. Tony had a rough start but somewhere along the way he has learned many commands, is crate trained, potty trained, and an extremely well behaved house dog. A very attached and affectionate dog, Tony walks well on leash, rides well in the car, does well with all other dogs and children (cats unknown) and, in his foster home, shows no sign of any aggressive or poor behavior. He’s pretty much the perfect companion! Tony is about 2 yrs. of age and around 40 lbs. He has had all of his vaccinations, is micro-chipped and will be neutered prior to finalization of his adoption. He is available locally as a foster to adopt. If you would like to meet Tony at his foster home in St. George, Utah, please call his foster mom at 858-531-8919.

Rainbowsouthern utah adoptable pets Rainbow

This beautiful girl is 1-1/2 years old. She is part kangaroo and part firecracker! She would love to have an active family with room to play and a 6’ fence. Rainbow gets along with everyone but may have too much energy for small children. She’s still young and needs work with her manners, but she’s very smart and should learn quickly. She is housebroken, can use a doggy door, and knows how to sit but she’s too wiggly to stay sitting for long. To find out more about Rainbow, meet her and see if she’s a match for you, text or call Julie at 435-773-5209.

Peppysouthern utah adoptable pets Peppy

Even though Peppy likes playing with the other dogs, he loves, loves, loves being with his people…which explains why he’s not a fan of being in a crate (but who is, really?). This sweet little man will love and adore you and is willing to stay by your side always. Peppy is available locally as a foster to adopt dog because he still needs to be neutered when the current coronavirus situation is resolved. To find out more about Peppy, meet him and see if he’s a match for you text or call Julie at 435-773-5209.
