Kanab Kicks Off Sesquicentennial Celebration
with Their Hardy Kanab 10K
Kickoff Kanab’s weeklong Sesquicentennial Celebration at the Kanab 10K on Saturday, June 13th, 2020!
The 6.2-mile scenic course begins at 7 am on Highway 89 at the historic Moqui Cave, meanders alongside Kanab Creek and the vermillion cliffs, and finishes at the Jacob Hamblin Park. Walkers and runners must complete the first five miles of the course in two hours or less. Strollers are allowed on the course.
Registration is open and only $25. Children 17 and under are only $15. The entry fee includes a t-shirt, race swag, and custom race bib! Register at kanab10k.com or runnercard.com. Custom trophies by Western Hills will be awarded to the overall male and female winners as well as the top finisher in each age division. Every participant will receive a finisher’s medal! Mayor Houston will be serving up pancakes for participants to enjoy after crossing the finish line. Spectators can purchase the pancake breakfast for $2.
Packet pickup will be in Kanab on Friday, June 12th from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Kanab City Office located at 26 North 100 East. Packets can also be picked up the morning of the race at the Kanab City Park beginning at 6:00 AM. Racers must be at Jacob Hamblin Park (100 E. 500 N.) by 6:30 to take a shuttle bus to the starting line
After the race be sure to head to the Kanab Center (20 N 100 E) for the Time Capsule Ceremony beginning at 10:00 AM. There are fun activities to follow throughout the day. Go to visitsouthernutah.com/kanab-150/ for a full schedule of events.
Please note, the highway will only be open to one-way traffic from 300 N. to Moqui Cave on June 13th between 6:30 and 9:00 am. Consequently, delays should be expected on Highway 89, and the south entrance to Best Friends will be closed between 7 and 8 am, so please plan accordingly. Runners will also be on 300 N., 200 N., 200 W., and 100 E. Thanks for your cooperation!
