DICK EARL LIVE PLUS A SCREENING OF “INTO THE FIRE” EQUALS A WHOLE LOT OF BLUES-CENTRIC AWESOMENESS!
Legendary local musician Dick Earl hasn’t just performed the blues for four decades, he’s lived the blues. That’s because the two go hand in hand. Yes, if you’ve met this devoted performer or if you’ve been fortunate enough to see him perform live, you already know the two are synonymous with one another. Earl and the Blues go together like chocolate and peanut butter.
The blues, Earl’s origins, and his basic need to perform as a way of life are perfectly captured in the informative documentary, “Into the Fire.” This electric and insightful blues-centric road trip movie was directed by Isaac Ericksen who knows a thing or two about Dick Earl because he just so happens to be his son, so in addition to being a wonderful tribute to all of the aforementioned things, “Into the Fire” also happens to be a lovely father/son story.
This passion project was put together in conjunction with the UTU Film Program. It made a huge splash at 2021’s DocUtah International Documentary Film Festival and seeing it on a big screen with a packed house is the perfect way to experience it.
For those of you who were unable to attend the big screening last November, you’re about to get another chance as Dick Earl’s Electric Witness and The Film and Media Alliance of Southern Utah (FMASU) will host a special screening of this outstanding film at the historic Electric Theater on Friday, August 26th at 7 PM. Not only that, but this will be a slightly different cut than the one that made the rounds late last year. What’s more, the excitement won’t end there;
Immediately following the screening, Dick Earl will perform live and he’ll be joined by special guests Alice Ericksen, Mari Ericksen, Isaac Ericksen, and more, proving without a doubt that talent runs deep in the soul of this powerhouse family unit. During what is sure to be a passionate, high-energy performance, Isaac and team will also share insight about the making of “Into the Fire.” It goes without saying that this is an event you won’t want to miss!
