Set in Edwardian England, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder follows the uproarious and cunning journey of Monty Navarro, a lowly clerk who discovers he is ninth in line to inherit a fortune. Armed with charm, wit, and ambition, Monty embarks on a hilariously sinister mission to eliminate the eight heirs standing in his way. This rollicking musical comedy explores class, love, and morality themes through toe-tapping tunes and laugh-out-loud antics.
For director Brandon Bruce, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder is a satire on class warfare that revels in absurdity. “It’s about sex and murder—without all the messy parts,” Bruce remarks. “We want the audience to have fun and, perhaps, think about how ridiculous it is to value wealth over humanity.”
The production’s comedic tone and memorable music promise to delight a wide range of theatergoers. Bruce adds, “Steven Lutvak described this musical as ‘a rollicking laugh-your-a**-off comedy that allows for some great singing.’ I can’t think of a better way to describe it.”
