A Rockin’ Celebration: American Crossroads Theatre Rings in Season 23 with “Million Dollar Quartet”

February 27, 28, and March 1 at 7 PM.
Get ready to tap your toes and sing along as American Crossroads Theatre (formerly known as SimonFest Theatre Company) marks its 23rd season by bringing the iconic musical Million Dollar Quartet to Cedar City. The performance will run at the Heritage Center Theater on February 27, 28, and March 1 at 7 PM.
A Legendary Jam Session
On December 4, 1956, four colossal names in music—Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley—unexpectedly converged on Sun Records. What started as a chance meeting turned into an unforgettable, impromptu jam session that would go down in Rock ‘n’ Roll history. Million Dollar Quartet recreates that electric moment on stage, delivering an all-ages, high-energy tribute to these trailblazing performers.
“This show has captured hearts around the globe,” says Director Richard Bugg. “Folks who grew up on these hits will be swept back in time, and younger audiences will discover the sheer fun and creativity that sparked a brand-new American sound.”
Why the Name Change?
After 20-plus years of focusing on Neil Simon’s works, Founder and Artistic Director Richard Bugg explains the company’s decision to become American Crossroads Theatre. “We had a close connection to Mr. Simon, but after his passing, the Simon estate’s attorney—unaware of our history—revoked our rights to stage Simon’s plays. Since then, we’ve embraced a broader mission: celebrating the power of storytelling and the diverse American experience. ‘Crossroads’ represents a gathering place for these stories to connect.”
More Musicals on Tap
The celebration doesn’t stop after winter. The summer season promises three more crowd-pleasers—Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Little Women the Musical, and the classic rock opera The Who’s Tommy. All three will be performed in repertory at the Heritage Center Theater from July 2 through August 2.
